House history
The Guilleminot House, born in the 19th century in Channes in the Côte des Bar in Champagne, has been working the land and the vine with passion from generation to generation. Its emblem is an angel created by the great-grandfather, a stonecutter, placed above the family home to protect the vines and the family. The estate has been successively managed by several generations: Marie, who has been cultivating the vine since 1897, then her daughter Suzanne with the help of her husband Henri Guilleminot. The third generation, Colette and Michel, is at the origin of the house's know-how and chose to preserve the tradition of pinot noir. The fourth generation, Patrice, Carine, and Corinne, took up the torch by modernizing the methods and expanding the range, while the fifth generation grows up in the world of champagne and follows in the footsteps of their elders.
Tasting experience
The house produces 5 cuvées 100% blanc de noirs. It has chosen to be single-varietal, with black grapes with clear flesh that bring personality, power, and aroma to the cuvées. The limestone soil is presented as beneficial for the vines. The grapes are hand-picked and pressed at low pressure to preserve their qualities. The must is then put into a vat and clarified, then alcoholic fermentation begins. By personal choice, the wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation in order to avoid slightly deacidifying the wine and weighing down the aromas.
