Champagne Philbert

Rue de Chigny 7, 51500 Rilly-la-Montagne, France

House history

The Philbert House traces its origins back to the late 19th century, when the family's ancestors were already working the vineyards. Victor Philbert then embarked on the production of Champagne bottles in 1923. Later, his descendant Henri became a grower-producer and created the "Champagne Philbert" brand. Since its creation, six generations have succeeded one another. The house still belongs to the founding family and, since 2021, it has been managed by Mr. Dubois Yannick.

Tasting experience

The house offers visits to the estate upon contact. It presents typical house cuvées and states that it has been certified High Environmental Value (HVE) since 2019. The estate is mainly located in Rilly-la-Montagne and in the neighboring villages of Ludes, Taissy, Montbré, and Villers Allerand, classified as Premier Cru. It cultivates the three Champagne grape varieties: pinot meunier, pinot noir, and chardonnay. The viticulture is sustainable, without insecticides or herbicides. The cellar maintains a constant temperature for bottle aging. Vinification is done in vats, with a minimum aging of 3 years for the most common cuvées and 3 to 6 years for others.
