House history

The house presents a family history spanning several generations. The site indicates that the family has been cultivating vines for 5 generations. In its historical account, Emile Leroy, a winemaker in Ecueil near Reims, began marketing his wines with Gustave Saroul. In 1911, Henri succeeded his father. Henri and his wife Marguerite Dussaut then built the current estate in Mesneux. Philippe succeeded Henri with his wife Marguerite Bertin, and the association of their names gave birth to the Leroy-Bertin brand. After the difficulties of the war, Philippe and Marguerite restored the estate. Maurice, with his wife Marie Thérèse Bertin, then developed the brand and expanded the estate. Then Catherine and Christophe took over the operation and created EARL Leroy-Bertin, continuing the evolution of the house in the Champagne tradition and family conviviality. The site also mentions two emblems passed down through family memory: the lion adopted since December 2008 in homage to Emile Leroy and Gustave Saroul, and the Reims cathedral drawn by their grandmother Marguerite Leroy for the muselet plaques.
