House history
The history of the estate is presented as a family story and of transmission. The vines supported previous generations, then Jacqueline and Claude Michez developed the activity by creating their champagne brand in 1973 with the village cooperative. Laurence indicates having been involved since 1996 to learn and continue the work of the vine and sales. In 2001, Cyrille gradually joined the estate to evolve viticultural practices. In 2009, the opportunity to vinify themselves appeared with the purchase of a house and its facilities in the commune. In 2010, the family chose to leave the cooperative to produce their own cuvées from family plots, with the aim of becoming independent winemakers. In 2020, the estate managed all of its 4.2 hectares in organic viticulture, in line with the High Environmental Value certification previously obtained. The name La Villesenière refers both to a part of the terroir, Villesaint, a hamlet of Boursault, and to Jacqueline.
Tasting experience
The estate offers guided tours with tasting. The program includes a presentation of Champagne La Villesenière and its history, the discovery of cultivation methods and environmental commitment, the visit of the plots according to the season, then a commented tasting of 3 cuvées from the estate. The tour may include a vehicle trip in the plots, explanations of cultural practices, the visit of the press, the discovery of vinification stages, production and aging methods, then the tasting in the reception area. The visits are particularly aimed at chefs, wine merchants, importers, and tourists. Two options are indicated: "Discovery of the estate" (1h00, €20 per person) and "From the vine to the cellar" (2h00, €35 per person). Visits take place from Monday to Saturday from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, by reservation at least 48 hours in advance, with a maximum capacity of 12 people per group and 2 daily visits. A group option is available from 8 people, price on request.
