Champagne house
Champagne Goutorbe-Bouillot
Rue Anatole France 14, 51480 Damery, France
House history
The history of the house is presented as a family story rooted in Damery, where the Bouillot, Goutorbe, and Papleux families have worked in the service of champagne on the same soil. The story indicates that in 1923 Edmond Papleux arrived in Damery to work on his uncle's farm. He married Suzanne Goutorbe, then, after her death, settled permanently in Damery and married Paulette in 1943. He managed both agriculture and viticulture. The 1950s marked the rise of champagne. In 1965, Edmond created new cellars and the family settled at 14 rue Anatole France, which became the center of the Goutorbe-Bouillot operation. The site adds that since 1755, the Bouillot family has been walking the vineyards of Damery and cultivating their own grapes, exclusively in Pinot Meunier.
