Champagne Bouquin-Dupont
Place Charles de Gaulle 1, 51190 Avize, France
House history
The house states that the champagne Bouquin Dupont Fils was born in 1929, when Paul Emile Dupont acquired a vineyard on the Avize terroir. He began vinifying his grapes in 1934. His daughter Liliane Dupont and her husband Michel Bouquin continued the production of champagne and expanded the estate with the acquisition of several plots on the territory of Cramant. In 1986, Dominique Bouquin Dupont purchased other plots on the Mesnil/Oger terroir. The house also specifies that the estate includes a vineyard of one hectare and sixty ares on the terroirs of Avize, Cramant, and Mesnil/Oger, in Grand Cru of the Côte des Blancs, near Épernay.
Tasting experience
The house offers cellar tours and tastings. For the aperitif, it recommends the non-dosage Champagne (0 grams of sugar) and the Extra Brut (2 g/bottle). It advises starting the tasting at 8°C, then letting the bottle warm up between 14°C and 16°C so that the aromas open up. At the beginning of the meal, or to accompany shellfish, fish, and white meats, the old reserve and vintages are indicated. At the end of the meal or after coffee, the 2012 Vintage and the Rosé Grand Cru are recommended.
