Champagne house
Champagne Bertrand Charton
Rue des Coteaux 3, 51390 Méry-Prémecy, France
House history
The estate is presented as a family adventure located in Méry-Prémecy, at the border between the Montagne de Reims and the Ardre valley. Bertrand follows several generations there and claims a craftsman winemaker approach, attentive to the rhythm of nature. The estate indicates having embarked since 2018 on an environmental approach leading to organic viticulture certification obtained in March 2024 after three years of conversion. The first cuvées from organically certified grapes from the 2024 harvest are announced as being in the process of aging in the cellar.
Tasting experience
The estate offers visits and tastings by mandatory reservation, via form, email, or phone. The complete visit with tasting lasts about 2 hours. It includes the discovery of the vineyards with an explanation of the work in the vineyard and certified organic practices, then the discovery of the winery and the Champagne production process, including winemaking, technical choices, and aging. The tasting allows sampling 2 cuvées. The welcome is presented as personalized, in a small family structure, with small groups, often individual. On-site parking is indicated. The site also specifies that visits are by appointment only, with reception from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 12 pm and from 1:30 pm to 5 pm, and closed on Sundays and public holidays.
